Crowd gathered for an evening community tree-lighting ceremony under illuminated trees.

Tree-lighting ceremony

 –

Join us for carols and festive entertainment from 5-7:30pm as we light our our biggest tree to date, a 40ft Norwegian Spruce, in Duke of York Square.

Come and celebrate with us on a night to remember, with performances from our much loved Chelsea Pensioners from 5:15pm and London Contemporary Voices, one of the UK’s leading contemporary choirs from 6pm. Two spectacular 4m illuminated puppets will also roam Duke of York Square alongside glowing stilt walkers, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Duke of York Square itself will be transformed into an enchanting festive trail of shimmering, constellation-inspired zodiac figures, evoking the magic of a star-filled winter landscape

Our Chelsea Elves will also be handing out beautiful Christmas paper lanterns, each complete with an LED tealight from 5pm so you can join in the parade. There are limited numbers of these so arrive early to make sure you don't miss out! There will also be reindeer headbands for children and Christmas song sheets so everyone can sing along with the choir.

Make sure you arrive by 6pm to see the tree being lit and to experience our first flutters of magical Chelsea snowfall, which will return on the hour each weekend from 12-7pm.

Get in to the festive spirit with seasonal serves from:

Vardo: Mulled wine, beer  and wine

Chelsea Grocer: Champagne, wine mulled wine, Mince pies

Polpo: Mulled wine served with a  "zaeti veneziani". An oval shaped cookie traditionally dipped in sweet wine, made with raisins and polenta.
