Founded in 2013 by Matthew Jones, Bread Ahead has grown from a Borough Market bakery into a beloved destination for Londoners and global food lovers alike. With a background as a chef working alongside top UK culinary talent in the 1990s, Matthew launched his first bakery in 2000 and went on to establish Bread Ahead with a vision for quality, accessible baking.
The Bread Ahead Bakery School opened in 2014, offering hands-on workshops that make artisan baking approachable for all. From classic doughnuts and Great British bakes to Nordic treats and gluten-free options, the school’s popular classes—now also available in Chelsea, Wembley, Jeddah, and Dubai—are led by expert tutors and attract aspiring bakers from around the world.
