Veganuary

For those who’ve committed to Veganuary or merely fancy dipping their toe into the world of veganism, Chelsea should be your first port of call on the Vegan trail with a number of restaurants offering extensive vegan options. There will be no need to pick at a plate of limp lettuce or fearing the forgoing of your weekend bacon sarnie; here are some of our top suggestions for your health fix and happy tummys.

Wulf and Lamb on Pavilion Road is becoming widely known as a vegan hub. Tuck into comfort classics (vegan of course) as we hit the coldest months of the year. Expect creamy linguine and a mac ‘n’ cheese to die for, and craving a burger? Well you can get that too – the Wulf Burger, a seitan burger topped with tomato, baby gem, pickle, red onion and cashew aioli in a brioche bun. Get ready for the latest menu additions coming on 7 January too, pizzas!

The Good Life, just up on Sloane Avenue, is a haven for the healthy (or those trying to be). The menu offers breakfast all day long as well more substantial meals, including chestnut and almond waffles with coconut yogurt, berry and chia compote with a banana mash and a hillbilly chilli; a three bean chipotle chilli with coconut yogurt, chives and roasted sweet potato accompanied with quinoa or brown rice. Not only that but the fridges are filled with delicious juices for those on a detox and the sweet treats to take-away are enormously popular.

The Ivy Chelsea Garden is also a must-visit with a year-round vegan menu, offering vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options for the health-conscious. The warm Asian salad is a plate of colour and exciting flavours; watermelon, pak choi, broccoli, cashew nuts, sesame, coriander and a hoisin sauce and we hear the roasted butternut squash and grains should be your main of choice.

Tucked away on Ellis Street is Raw Press. Once discovered, vegans and wannabe vegans will return time and time again. There is an extensive menu of juices, smoothies and acai bowls and a revolving menu of different salads for lunches when you’re craving some colour and vitamins this January. For something a little naughtier, try the ‘Forbidden rice bowl’ or the nachos which come with a cashew ‘sour cream’, pumpkin ‘cheese’, guacamole and a salsa. Healthy has never been so indulgent… or easy!

London Restaurant Festival

London Restaurant Festival returns this October, arriving in Chelsea with a line up of fantastic foodie events.

On 4 October, Pavilion Road showcases some of the finest artisan food in the Capital. Enjoy a gourmet journey down London’s longest mews, with tastings and talks from London Cheesemonger, Provenance Butcher, Natoora, Ice Cream Union, The Roasting Party and Bread Ahead, followed by a three course menu at Granger & Co or Wulf and Lamb. Tickets are £85 and can be purchased here.

Bill Granger is also known for his eclectic and flavoursome food, and will be hosting a special four-course dinner on 8 October at his latest Granger & Co restaurant on Pavilion Road. More information can be found here.

Honest Roots Vegan Brunch Party

To end Veganuary on a high Bluebird have joined forces with The Goodness Guru to create the ultimate Vegan brunch, ‘Honest Root’s’ on Saturday 27 January.

Starting at 11am, the morning will begin with a talk by Isa, The Goodness Guru, sharing her tips for a balanced approach to food and eating this New Year, followed by a meditation before tucking in to a delicious feast to set you up for the day.

This restaurant is sure to be filled with foodies and their friends as the 100% vegan menu is abundant with delicious quality comfort and on-the-go treats for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Highlights include the Chili ‘non’ Carne and the Coronation Cauliflower Wrap.

Having been open since the start of October, queues still form from midday for the lunchtime rush. Bookings aren’t possible, so make sure you get in the queue early!
