After a historic renovation, the wait is finally over for the hottest opening in Chelsea; Sloane Street’s Belmond Cadogan Hotel. It’s walls tell incredible tales from glamour to scandal, from Oscar Wilde to Lillie Langtry and now it re-opens in the heart of Chelsea offering a luxury home-from-home retreat in its next chapter.
It’s impressive doors on Sloane Street, with doormen dressed in uniforms reminiscent of 1960s London and the Mary Quant King’s Road era welcome you in to a roaring fireplace and sweeping staircase leading up to the 54 bedrooms. Impressive details include a bronze cast of 600 books, honouring Oscar Wilde’s story, and 400 pieces of original artwork lining the walls, commissioned from mostly British artists paying homage to the artistic enclave that is the Belmond Cadogan. Further details and playful touches, include Oscar the peacock, glittering in Swarovski crystals and the bespoke tea sets and hand-knitted tea cosies in bedrooms.
The “Best of British” dining is led by Head Chef, Adam Handling, and guests can expect daringly modern and innovative recipes which are enhanced by the restaurants sustainability ethos. Expect theatrical dishes such as Lamb Wellington and his signature creation, Truffle Cheese Doughnuts.
Each of the 54 bedrooms and suites are unique and offer nothing bust the most exception experience for guests. Working fireplaces, large bathrooms with deep, freestanding roll-top baths with bespoke book and champagne holders ensure a home-from-home experience for guests. Each guest also has private access, through 21 Pont Street, as well as access to the exclusive Cadogan Place Gardens so they too can feel like a Chelsea resident.
