London’s Best Bakery

Country & Townhouse have been doing their research into London’s best bakeries and what was top of the list you ask? Pavilion Road’s Bread Ahead.

This place is a real doughy delight offering the best cakes, bakes and breads but you really haven’t tried anything until you’ve tried their filled doughnuts which Country & Townhouse have described as the “stuff of legend”. They’re piped with vanilla, chocolate, jam or honeycomb custard and sprinkled with sugar and occasionally they bring out a seasonal offer, the hot-cross-doughnut was not to be missed.

If you’re a keen baker yourself, they also offer a fantastic selection of baking courses to get stuck into. Find out more on their website. Or if you’d rather bake from home, Country & Townhouse tracked down their famous doughnut recipe so you too can give them a go.

Father’s Day in Chelsea

If you haven’t already planned something special to treat your father on this special day, here are some of our top suggestions from around the area…

Chelsea’s vibrant and unique artisan quarter, Pavilion Road, is home to Pavilion Wines. This beautiful place is filled floor to ceiling with adventurous bottles to discover and sip from. Why not take your father for an afternoon of wine tasting? With charcuterie and cheeseboards on offer, where better to spend a Sunday.

The Phene, Chelsea institution famed for their piece-de-resistance, the beautiful garden, is a wonderful pub and even perfect for the Dad on a health-kick. Just mention ‘Old Tom’ whilst book lunch or dinner on Sunday 17 June for fathers to receive a free Old Tom Collins and be in with a chance to win a tour around Hayman’s shiny new Gin distillery in Balham. Tuck into pub delights – juicy burgers and Sunday lunch with all the trimmings – or something a bit more delicate – lobster or delicious roast aubergine to make this day a treat all round.

Every man loves a burger which is why Bluebird are serving a fantastic Beef & Truffle Burger, chips and Chelsea Blond across the café, the terrace and the restaurant upstairs. Book a table, enjoy a delicious meal and even enjoy your fathers favourite tipple at the bar afterwards.

If they don’t take your fancy, enjoy the Daddy of all dishes – Beef Wellington – or a mouthwatering three course menu at Gordon Ramsay’s Maze Grill on Park Walk. For only £55 a person, enjoy three courses and unlimited sides, from burnt out sliders or burrata followed by 28 day 14oz T-Bone or grilled salmon from the Scottish loch Duart farm and satisfy your sweet tooth with sticky whisky pudding, served with sea salt ice cream. If you’re craving the King of meals, and Gordon’s signature dish, order the Beef Wellington (£80 for two), and you won’t go wrong.

Enjoy!
