Join the Syd Lawrence Orchestra as they mark the centenary of the RAF Benevolent Fund and Chris Dean as he directs the magnificent men and women of the Orchestra in tribute to members of the RAF, both past and present.

In addition to leading the phenomenal 18-piece orchestra, Chris is also featured on the trombone and vocals, and is joined by fellow singer Sarah Eyden. If you’re in the know, you’ll know – and you’ll know who Joy Rose. Her remarkable vocal talents have resulted in performances with Sting, Bluey (Incognito) and Jason Rebello (Jeff Beck). With her formidable vocal range and power, she produces tracks which she describes as “a fusion of jazz, soul and gospel”.

Now on tour and recording with Incognito, her performances have become much more exclusive and this rare evening on 7 April at Chelsea’s jazz club, 606, features Lex Cameron (keyboards), Bobby Quigley (guitar), Chris Dodd (bass) and Sam Agard (drums).

Claire Martin & Jim Mullen

Join Claire Martin & Jim Mullen for a fantastic evening of Jazz where they pay their respects to Wes Montgomery. Wes Montgomery had a profound impact on modern jazz; self taught and winner of multiple Grammy’s, he is widely credited for his major impact on the style known as Smooth Jazz. The evening will feature his best known material of both guitar and voice by two great current performers.

Claire Martin, known as an “outstanding voice of her generation” and Jim Mullen, regarded as one of the greatest jazz guitarists in Europe will be on stage for this special performance on 13 January.

NYO Jazz

A concert forming part of the first ever European tour by Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Jazz Orchestra musicians aged between 16-19. They will showcase the fantastic American music for big band from Basie and Ellington to today’s Jazz greats and include special guest singer Dianne Reeves. Enjoy some of the Jazz classics from five-time Grammy winner Dianne Reeves, whose vocal power and big personality has been compared to the likes of Sarah Vaughn and Ella Fitzgerald.

Luna Cohen’s Brazillian Jazz Night

If Jazz music is a favourite of yours, then head to 606 club for a night of Brazilian Jazz with Luna Cohen.

On 20 June, Luna, who was originally from Belo Horizonte in Brazil, will be on stage for one evening only. She moved to London in 2014 to broaden her artistic horizons which has been nothing but a benefit to the London music scene.

She has already recorded three albums under her own name with her debut album ‘Estrada do sol’ winning the 2013 Enderrock award for Best New Jazz Album so this is sure to be a spellbinding evening showcasing her classic and smooth but powerful voice.

Open Garden Squares Weekend

Peter King & Mornington Lockett at 606 Club

Head to Chelsea’s 606 Club on 20 January for an exciting evening of great modern Jazz featuring stars, Peter King and Mornington Lockett.

Rising to fame on the Jazz scene in the early sixties as a member of the Ronnie Scott Quintet, Peter King has since established himself as one of the finest alto-saxophonists in the world. He combines his famous technique and unerring sense of harmony to produce performances to send shivers down your spine. As well as a remarkable improviser, he has also established himself as a writer and arranger of note creating an opera and a wonderful series of recordings featuring his own string arrangements for classical and a jazz quartet.

Joining him will be one of the UK’s leading tenor sax players, Mornington Lockett who creates a hugely impressive sound and approach to his performances.

This performance really is a rare chance to hear two of the finest saxophonists in the world together. It is a must for those with a passion for great modern Jazz.
