As the summer months approach and the sun begins to shine, this exhibition could not come at a more appropriate time. ‘The Art of Travel’ reflects our travel ideals; from planes to trains, boats to cars, fame and fashion meet before the camera to celebrate how to reach our destinations of choice.
From April 15 – May 20, 2019, the exhibition will feature the work of eight iconic photographers who captured the tempting backdrop of excursions, from some of our favourite cities which include New York City, Paris and London. From Terry O’Neill’s iconic portrait of Elton John in front of his private plane used for his 1974 world tour, to John Swannell’s ethereal portrait of actress Helena Bonham Carter on a boat in Venice, Milton H. Greene’s glowing image of Marilyn Monroe disembarking a plane, Norman Parkinson’s Queen magazine cover shoot of a stunning model on the back of a horse in full gallop in Egypt to a portrait of the band Blue with a Jaguar Mark 2 car by Clacton Pier in Clacton-on-Sea by Kevin Cummins, these images and many more represent flight, movement and the alluring romance of being elsewhere.
