Eve Shepherd: Odyssey

From 21 – 29 September, Eve Shepherd’s Odyssey exhibition will be on display as 508 Gallery and Farnon & Lake come together to present an exciting curation of world-class sculptures.

Much of her works are rooted in Greek mythology but they tend to be more of expression of psychological state where she uses the human and zoomorphic forms to illustrate the state of being human. More traditional influences come from classic literature, Homer, Milton, Coleridge and her work pays homage to the great sculptors of the past; Rodin, Giambologna, Bernini and also wave a hand to artists such as Dove, Titian, Bacon and Picasso.

Open Garden Squares Weekend

It’s time to feed your curiosity and explore Chelsea’s secret, private and little-known about gardens over this very special weekend. Across the country over 200 gardens, normally closed from public eye, will be open and Cadogan Place North and Cadogan Place South are some of them.

Purchase tickets on the gates (£4) or full weekend tickets here and grab the chance to visit one of Chelsea’s best kept secrets. Throughout the weekend listen to music from a jazz group, The Jonny Mansfield Trio, enjoy artists demonstrations from the London Fine Art Studio and eat delicious food from The Rib Room at Jumeriah Carlton Tower. This is a beautiful space to settle down for a picnic and relax on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

The garden can be found on Sloane Street, just up from Sloane Square on the right hand side. You won’t be able to miss the beautiful greenery!

An Elixir of Letters

15 of the UKs’ most forefront letter carvers were invited to the Chelsea Physic Garden to explore and become acquainted with this historic and unique garden and all it has to offer. These artists, who include Martin Cook, Annet Stirling and Charlotte Howarth, responded to theme of 2018 ‘Beverage, Bubbles and Brews’ with proposals for sanding stones and sculptures, sundials and ornaments with witty and wise inscriptions of poetry, drinking songs and recipes.

Inspired by a myriad of plants are ingredients in teas and tisanes, wines, cordials, beers and herbal brews, the exhibition, ‘An Elixir of Letters’ will shake the thirst of art lovers and gardeners alike. The exhibition is spread out around the Garden from 9 May to 31 October 2018 and all works are for sale.

Quentin Blake charity auction Chelsea

Ken Howard & Friends – The Auction

Artist Ken Howard is raising funds for the charity Kids for Kids with the help of much loved artists Sir Quentin Blake, Bob Brown, Peter Kuhfeld and more, at an anticipated auction in the heart of Chelsea. Taking place at the John Bly Gallery, there will be a selection of works available to buy, with proceeds going towards supporting children in Darfur, Sudan.
