Loewe Craft Prize 2018
May 4 - June 17
The Loewe Craft Prize was established in 2016 by The Loewe Foundation to showcase and celebrate newness, excellent and artistic merit in craftsmanship today. From 4 May – 17 June, the Design Museum will be showcasing the nominees of the 2018 edition.
The Loewe Craft Prize seeks to recognise artisans whose talent, vision and will to innovate will set a standard for the future. The imagination, diversity and techniques on display will attest to the crucial role artisans have on the ongoing construction of cultural heritage. See finalists from across the globe; from Sweden, Japan, Ireland to Spain and Denmark.
Take part in a range of events to inspire your creative thoughts and understanding of craftsmanship such as:
- ‘The New Ethics of Craftmanship’ on 11 May – Loewe’s Creative Directo, Jonathon Anderson and the Design Museum’s Co-Director Deyan Sudjic to discuss ethics on craft.
- ‘Diversity in Craft’ on 12 May – A panel discussion on diversity in craft.
- ‘Object Casting Workshop’ on 24 June – Cast your own functional and wearable objects by merging traditional techniques with new and unique materials.
